Horace Bing has a new mission. Well, not Horace actually, but Frank Collison, the actor who played Horace is part of an ambitious social media project called “Long Riders.” Beginning in April 2017 Frank and two of his friends, Vic and Steve Ferrari will set out on horseback from the Mexican border to ride the entire 2,650 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. About 500 hikers attempt a through hike every year but very few equestrians have ever attempted this ride up the mountainous spine of western America. If all goes well they will reach the Canadian border in about five months. The ride is the centerpiece of a national social media program to raise awareness about hepatitis C which now kills more Americans than HIV. Along the way they will raise funds to get 20 people tested for every mile they ride.
